Crafting Public Space in Hobsonville
A pocket park is small public area integrated into an urban development, typically making use of an irregular-shaped corner of land. As the surrounding residential development is taking shape on Nugget Avenue, The Plant People’s Landscape division has recently completed a little nugget of green space in Hobsonville Point, in Auckland’s north-west.
The pocket park construction project is designed to break up the concrete and steel of the neighbouring housing development. It provides seating, a grassed area and a variety of fruit trees, including apple and citrus varieties, for the public to enjoy.
